Your purpose

As a 1 st Line Support Analyst, you will be an approachable and dedicated individual with a passion for helping others. You will be the face of IT for employees, supporting hardware and software queries, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and helping new starters with onboarding.

How your role fits within our team

As a 1 st Line Support Analyst, you will be a key part of our internal IT support team, providing front-line assistance to employees across the business. Working in a fast-paced, mid-sized environment, you will respond to incoming tickets, walk-ups, and phone calls, ensuring technical issues are logged, resolved, or escalated to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.

Your role is part of a core business Support Function that plays a critical part in helping Ascenti operate efficiently and effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support by handling incoming calls and service desk tickets.
  • Accurately log issues, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalate incidents as required to ensure timely resolution and excellent customer service.
  • Manage and resolve service desk tickets within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Learn, understand, and assist with the Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) process, ensuring all equipment is shipped to employees, with asset catalogues maintained accurately.
  • Provide cover when needed for the IT Administrator by assisting with hardware builds, device preparation, and deployment, and ensuring the JML process is followed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the IT Administrator to manage the sending and receiving of equipment in alignment with the JML process.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of issues, solutions, and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, document changes, and update workflows related to the role.

Progress step by step

You will have three APP development routes to choose from, ranging from the more academic routes to portfolio options, and once you pass key milestones your salary will increase. Most physiotherapists will complete the Ascenti APP development pathway in around 12 – 36 months, depending on the route chosen and the individual.

When you join you will agree a development plan aligned with the Ascenti APP roadmap and will have dedicated time to check in with your supervisors regularly.

You will also attend special support sessions and will connect with existing Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners and other developing APPs across Ascenti, enabling you to learn as part of a group dynamic.

Working as a developing APP you will have plenty of autonomy in your role, but with the support of your Area Manager and Clinical Mentor every step of the way. You will always have someone to speak to as part of a friendly and dynamic team with approachable management.

This will involve holding consultations and writing fair and accurate reports.

You will only work to assess people for PIP or a WCA, not both. As part of your application process, we will advise you on which service you will work on and discuss what your training will involve.

You do not need to have worked as a Functional Assessor previously. We can support you in your career change with our accredited training programme and dedicated support structure.

Key responsibilities

  • Holding telephone, video or in-person consultations with people who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA).
  • Assessing a variety of complex conditions and impairments.
  • Using your strong verbal communication skills and write high quality, fair and accurate assessment reports using a special IT system.
  • Working with your line manager to advance your own professional development and career as a Functional Assessor.

Essential experience and qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience working as an Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist or Occupational Therapist.
  • You must hold full registration with one of the following professional bodies:
    • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
    • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
    • General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC)
