Job Description

We are seeking a technically credible, electrically knowledgeable sales professional to grow Bender UK’s presence in Marine, Oil & Gas, Water, Energy and Renewables. This role blends consultative solution selling with technical understanding, helping customers design and implement safer, more resilient electrical systems—often in harsh, regulated, high-uptime environments.

You will take ownership of developing a pipeline, converting opportunities, adding to and expanding existing accounts. You will work closely with internal engineering and technical teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically compliant, commercially robust, and deliver clear customer value.

Responsibilities

Account Management & Relationship Development

· Own and grow relationships with key accounts, building multi-level stakeholder engagement (engineering, operations, HSE, procurement, project teams, senior decision-makers).

· Develop account plans to expand footprint (additional sites, systems, lifecycle upgrades, monitoring enhancements, service and retrofit opportunities).

· Represent Bender UK professionally and consistently as a dependable expert partner

Sector Growth

· Build and execute a sector growth plan across Marine, Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Grid/Networks, Water, Renewables (incl. wind, solar, BESS), and related EPC/Integrator channels.

· Identify and develop new customers (end users, owners/operators, EPCs, OEMs, system integrators, panel builders, contractors, consultants).

· Create and maintain a healthy pipeline, progressing opportunities from early-stage specification through to order and delivery.

Technical / Consultative Selling

· Lead customer discovery meetings to understand electrical risks, operational constraints, compliance drivers, and performance requirements.

· Translate needs into a clear technical solution narrative: problem → solution → outcomes (risk reduction, uptime, compliance, cost of failure, safety improvement).

· Support customers through technical clarification, solution configuration, and interface requirements (working with Bender technical resources as needed).

Bids, Proposals & Commercial Discipline

· Manage quotation and proposal development, ensuring technical compliance and strong commercial positioning.

· Contribute to bids and tenders (including technical responses, compliance statements, solution justifications, and clarifications).

· Negotiate within agreed authority; escalate contractual/commercial exceptions appropriately.

Cross-Functional Working

· Work closely with internal stakeholders (Sales Support, Engineering, Projects, Service, Marketing) to deliver strong customer outcomes.

· Provide structured market feedback (competitors, pricing pressure, emerging standards, customer needs) to help shape propositions and technical content.

CRM, Forecasting & Reporting

· Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting discipline (opportunity hygiene, next steps, probability, value, expected close dates).

· Track progress against agreed targets and KPIs, using CRM as the single source of truth.

Key Deliverables / Measures of Success (Typical)

· Pipeline creation and conversion in target sectors (value, quality, velocity).

· Revenue and gross margin performance vs target.

· Increased specification wins with EPCs/consultants/OEMs/integrators.

· Growth of strategic accounts (share of wallet, repeat orders, multi-site expansion).

· Evidence of technically robust proposals and reduced technical/commercial rework.

Qualifications

· Strong technical foundation (e.g., electrical engineering background, apprenticeship + progression, HNC/HND/degree, or equivalent “time-served” expertise).

· Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Competencies

Technical Capability (Essential)

· Practical electrical knowledge—comfortable discussing system design, protection concepts, power continuity, risk mitigation, fault conditions, and compliance-driven requirements.

· Confidence engaging with engineers and technical authorities; able to present technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Sales Capability (Essential)

· Proven consultative sales track record selling technical/engineered solutions into industrial/energy environments.

· Skilled in opportunity qualification, stakeholder mapping, value-based selling, and long-cycle project pursuits.

Personal Attributes

· Credible, structured communicator with strong presentation capability.

· Commercially astute; able to balance technical integrity with margin discipline.

· Proactive, self-managing, and resilient; thrives in growth-oriented roles.

· Collaborative—works effectively with engineering, service, projects, and internal sales support.

Experience

· Experience selling into one or more of: Marine, Oil & Gas, Water, Energy, Renewables, or adjacent heavy industrial sectors.

Desirable

· Experience with EPC and consultant-led specification environments.

· Familiarity with regulated/high-integrity environments and safety-critical purchasing behaviours.

· Exposure to monitoring/diagnostics, power quality, insulation/earth monitoring, condition monitoring, or resilience solutions.
