Assembly Technician
Salary: £23947.00 increasing to £24552.00 after successful completion of probation.
Location: Onsite in Colchester, Essex
We have an excellent opportunity in our Technical Team for an Assembly Technician.
Purpose of the Role
The Assembly Technician role is part of a wider Technical Team that ensures the accurate and timely provision of customer orders on behalf of Rapid. The Assembly Technician is expected to undertake general warehouse and technical assembly duties within all the various process paths that operate on site, covering Goods Preparation, Bin-Fill Replenishment and Picking orders.
Key Accountability
The main role of the assembly technician is to prepare, create and fulfil kit orders by referring to a sample or creating a new one dependent on the activity, and picking the relevant stock to fulfil the kit requirement. This can vary from stock replenishment to large scale bespoke orders. Assembly Technicians are also responsible for ensuring orders are created, picked and shipped out in line with our high-quality customer service standards. Once the kit is complete the assembly technician is responsible for replenishing bins when new stock arrives, whilst adhering to FIFO requirements for picking and storing stock, and also to ensure that any goods received are promptly processed, inspected (where necessary), and available for picking and packing in a swift manner. Assembly Technicians are also accountable for ensuring a high standard of housekeeping is kept at all times across all areas of the Technical department, and ensuring all Health and Safety policies and instructions are followed at all times.
Picking Tasks
• Pick orders on a daily basis in accordance with the order details (product locations, product codes, quantities etc) and store in the scheduled job location area.
• To be able to prioritise work based on demand and availability.
• Ensure all processes are followed for orders that require short picking, re-reeling etc
• Follow all manual handling training advice whilst picking, and using assistance tools and vehicles where necessary
• Ensure all steps are taken to prevent product damage, such as bubble-wrapping glass, placing liquids in a bag, mounting pins into foam and ensuring products that require ESD protection meet the standard protection required.
• Using WMS and Epicor to get required stock information to locate and query stock.
Bin-Fill Replenishment
• Efficiently replenish stock locations in the kitting room with goods which are placed onto appropriate receiving zone
• Adhere to FIFO rules when replenishing stock locations in the warehouse, ensuring that newly replenished products are placed behind older stock.
• Adhere to all health and safety precautions whilst replenishing the kitting locations, including, but not limited to, the safe use of pallet trucks, only storing pallets of goods in designated areas, and safely storing liquids and glassware to minimise damage.
Goods Preparation
• Receive required goods to the kitting room and reconcile these deliveries to the purchase order and update the host system accordingly.
• Sort and break down deliveries and check the quantity and quality of received items to the minimum frequency required.
• Investigate and solve any problems or issues arising from the delivery of goods e.g. where deliveries do not reconcile with the purchase order, by liaising with all necessary internal teams and the suppliers.
• Sort items for kits received externally.
• Refer unresolved matters to the Facilities and Technical supervisor for further support and advice.
• Prepare goods for the Warehouse as required.
• Assist with the bespoke pre-packing of goods.
• To be able to operate all of the machines within the department.
• Contribute towards creating, designing and reviewing kits and bespoke jobs.
General
• Able to undertake, as required, all of the activities associated with the various assembly functions, including the use of any associated equipment, to the best of their ability.
• To understand and contribute towards department processes enabling consistent use of WMS, Epicor and ERP software.
• Responsible for their own performance, and to support their team in, achieving all targets and job standards set out by the Technical team.
• Adaptable and flexible in their approach to work.
• Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.
• Maintain high levels of Health and Safety standards at all times and follow all Safe Operating Procedures that are in place.

Product Manager (Education and Test & Measurement)
Salary £45000.00 to £55,000.00 (dependent on experience)
Location: Hybrid (2 days a week in office in Colchester, Essex)
We have an excellent opportunity in our Product Management Team for an experienced Product Manager, specialising in education and test & measurement products, who is looking to build on their experience to date working as part of a talented team, currently reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Purpose of the Role
To have overall accountability for the performance of the Category offer, product portfolio and strategy aligned to Company Strategic Objectives in meeting profitable sales targets. Plays a pivotal role in driving the success of our company's offer with our customers across our multiple channels to market.
Responsible for developing and executing category plans that include marketing strategies that enhance brand visibility, generate demand, and contribute to revenue growth. This role requires a deep understanding of products, market trends, and the customer personas we are addressing.
Has ownership for ensuring the customer experience is optimised by shaping the offer either as stocked or with a supply chain solution that delivers to the customer in less than 1 week.
Key Accountability
• A category strategy and plan that delivers a blend of branded and private label offer to maximise customer penetration and optimise profitable sales.
• Able to understand Company Strategy and deliver through management of the category and product portfolio.
• Take ownership for the category performance, utilising digital performance to inform and influence category tactical decisions and strategic changes.
• Have full ownership of NPI choice and implementation, including successful ROI from our NPI choices.
• Construct brand choices in our offer that enable Rapid to win and gain share in the market.
• Assist Supplier Management with sourcing solution direction for preferred brands in order to ensure our supply chain solutions meet our targeted customer experience delivery.
• Assist Marketing to ensure our Marketing plans and campaigns optimise our profitable sales growth.
• Assist Pricing with market data and supplier/brand updates that add value to our pricing model.
• Full ownership for range review, ensuring our offer is always current and has no gaps, bringing an increasing choice and value to our customer offer.
• Each part creation, data setup and attribute construct is the responsibility of Product Management (providing Minimum Viable Content in terms of attributes for NPI). Once launched, the ownership of attribute construct and performance is that of the Content team.
Responsibilities
Product Management
Product Strategy and Development:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Supplier Management, Purchasing and Inventory, Marketing, Pricing and Content, to define, develop and deliver a Category Plan and strategy, providing regular reports on the progress and performance of the plan.
• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform product offer development decisions.
• Engage with and enlist new product brand/franchise opportunities
• Work with Marketing to ensure a comprehensive Marketing plan is incorporated into the overall Category plan to optimise our performance
• Fully utilise digital data and performance to inform and determine our decision making.
• Determine product features, initial launch pricing, and positioning to meet customer requirements and achieve business goals.
Marketing Strategy:
• Assist Performance Marketing to develop comprehensive marketing strategies for the category that align with company objectives and market trends.
• Assist in defining target audiences/target customer personas and the creation of tailored messaging that resonates with those customers.
• Assist Supplier Management to develop and manage supplier business plans and performance reviews that are fully aligned with the Category strategy and plan, including marketing plans for specific brands.
Product Launch and Promotion:
• Take full ownership for NPI choice, preparation, launch and performance.
• Enhance and influence gross margin through the category strategy and performance.
• Provide cross reference alternatives to enhance customer choice and experience across the category.
• Provide pricing inputs and market conditions updates to ensure our commercial decision making is front footed and we take full advantage of market conditions and changes.
• Identify NPI roadmaps with our strategic brands, and assist Supplier Management with ensuring our T&Cs for NPI provide commercial benefit and stock return protection.
Demand Generation:
• Design and implement demand generation campaigns to drive leads and sales, utilising digital marketing, content creation, and event strategies.
• Work closely with sales teams to develop effective sales enablement tools and resources.
• Regularly conduct Gap analysis of existing portfolio, profile customer and sector needs.
• Ensure technical and application knowledge of products within portfolio is maintained, providing product knowledge training to other areas of the business when appropriate.
• Accompany members of the Sales Team on customer visits where required
• Ensure relevant supplier and product information is obtained for New Product Introduction.
• Review the performance of the supply chain and ensure our customer experience is being delivered effectively with your Category offer.
• Utilise campaign performance metrics to optimise strategies and achieve measurable outcomes.
Customer Insights:
• Establish digital data for gathering and analysing customer feedback to inform product improvements and future development.
• Establish customer feedback to influence offer development and changes.
• Use customer insights to refine messaging, features, and offerings to meet customer preferences.
Communication
• Use a variety of communication methods to ensure that all employees, and other departments, are kept fully informed and understand all relevant Category information.
• Proactively develop and manage strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, continually improving communication channels with all including external contacts, potential suppliers and business partners.
• Liaise both formally and informally with work colleagues in a structured manner so as to build an on-going coherent and consistent understanding of product portfolio project objectives.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment and execution of Category strategy.
• Communicate updates, marketing initiatives, and performance metrics to key stakeholders.
Planning and Strategy Implementation
• Full ownership for the category offer, and the performance of that offer.
• Ensure your Category strategy and plan is fully aligned with the company strategy.
• Proactively leads, co-ordinates and project manages any projects and initiatives related to your Category.
• Is proactive in identifying any problems, determining the correct course of action to manage and resolve them and escalating them within an adequate timeframe, where necessary.
Performance Tracking and Reporting
• Develop a Product Management scorecard that monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product sales, marketing campaigns, and customer engagement, in particular incorporating digital performance data.
• Prepare regular reports detailing marketing efforts, outcomes, and recommendations for improvement.
General
