Overview

The Maritime Recruiter plays an integral role in supporting the Crewing Manager to ensure that the company’s vessels are adequately manned. The Maritime Recruiter will also bear the responsibility of managing the entire recruitment lifecycle associated with recruiting seafarers for the Company’s vessels and providing support to ensure candidates and seafarers hold the required qualifications and certifications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day recruitment of and management of the company’s crewing recruitment life cycle.
  • Fulfilling crewing recruitment objectives to ensure all company vessels are sufficiently crewed enabling them to sail within specified country regulations.
  • Screening prospective job applicants, CVs, etc to evaluate skills and qualifications.
  • Maintaining databases and records in line with DPA and UK GDPR to build a talent pool for future recruitment purposes.
  • Creating enticing job advertisements and posting on jobs boards, portals, and other channels.
  • Proactively searching for candidates that meet requisition requirements; networking to build relationships that can be converted into tangible opportunities as required.
  • Conducting interviews including telephone, virtual and in-person to assess candidate competencies.
  • Achieving recruitment requisition quotas and business growth targets as specified.
  • Updating and ensuring crewing rota is accurate and up to date with new hire information.
  • Vetting certifications and qualifications of applicants to ensure suitability and eligibility for advertised vacancies.
  • Ensuring that all hired crew certifications and qualifications are logged, and records are accurately maintained on Axisware.
  • Providing recommendations and input on hiring processes/requirements.
  • Recording and documenting crew sizes for all PPE gear.
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date databases of all next of kin and obtaining pre-employment health questionnaires of hired crew.
  • Providing ad hoc support as required.

Qualifications

  • Candidates with a CIPD Level 3 or experience in HR/talent acquisition would also be considered.

Competencies

Strong understanding of strategic needs and a proactive ability to fulfil requisitions with minimal supervision.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience with developing strong stakeholder relationships (both internally and externally).

IT proficient with experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organisational skills.

Experience

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in Maritime recruitment / recruiting seafarers for vessels or 1 – 2 years’ experience in a commercial recruitment role.
  • Experience with CTV/OS-HSC crew recruitment and/or Offshore recruitment desirable but not essential.
  • Up to date knowledge of MLC and/or employment law including discrimination and equality legislation.
  • Up to date knowledge of seafarer recruitment processes, required seafarer documentation and certifications.
