Job description

The purpose of this role is to provide competent health and safety advice in the new fresh produce packhouse at Bridge, Canterbury. The role also includes working at other ISS sites, supporting leaders and teams to maintain a safe, compliant, and proactive day-to-day working environment. Whilst reporting to the H&S Manager, the H&S Advisor will lead risk assessment processes and play an active role in driving continuous improvement in safety culture and compliance.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Advise managers and supervisors on health and safety matters.
  • Lead and review risk assessment process, ensuring outcomes are embedded into safe systems of work in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Lead the embedding of the Safety Management System at operational level.
  • Lead H&S meetings with site teams.
  • Provide health and safety support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
  • Regularly conduct site safety walks and report safety spots, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and completed.
  • Support incident investigations and monitor the completion of corrective actions with site teams. • Deliver proactive health and safety initiatives and projects.
  • Support training delivery and toolbox talks.
  • Manage the health and safety control of contractors on site, including checking RAMS, permits, and monitoring of their work.
  • Maintain the statutory compliance register and monitor that all statutory inspections, examinations and tests are completed and recorded on time.
  • Analyse safety performance data and prepare reports.
  • Work closely with the H&S Coordinators.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Essential).
  • 2 Years experience in H&S (Food production would be seen as advantage)
  • Ability to lead and influence positive H&S culture.
  • Experience of conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Good organisational and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel between ISS sites as required.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car (essential for work).
  • Ability to work flexibly to support operational requirements when needed.

Shift- Monday-Friday 8am- 5pm
