Job description

Define, own, and implement the company’s environmental sustainability policy across all sites, ensuring compliance with Group, customer, and site-specific targets. Manage environmental sustainability practices to meet legislative, best practice, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement toward net-zero goals.

Responsibilities

• Define and oversee the implementation of the environmental sustainability strategy through materiality assessment and hotspot analysis to identify key issues and opportunities for reducing environmental impact.

• Manage and review site environmental impact indicators (energy, food waste, material recycling, and scope 1–3 emissions), using insights to develop viable solutions and redefine priorities.

• Ensure accurate and transparent periodic reporting of environmental impact data to meet statutory and customer requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize data inventory and improve accuracy.

• Own and deliver the company roadmap to net-zero, working across the Group on carbon reduction plans and initiatives to increase recycling rates and reduce energy, food waste, and transport emissions.

• Conduct audits of site energy, waste, and recycling streams; implement efficiency practices based on audit outcomes.

• Develop and manage the company environmental and climate risk register to support resilience and align with TCFD requirements.

• Assess environmental impact of new processes/products and mitigate risks before launch.

• Manage relationships with recycling and waste management partners, ensuring compliance and integrity of the waste supply chain.

• Collate data and define energy savings plans to support ESOS and SECR compliance; evaluate financial viability and implement cost-effective solutions.

• Maintain and review site environmental certifications (REGOs, waste, recycling) for compliance and accurate reporting.

• Work toward achieving best-in-class environmental management systems across all sites (e.g., ISO14001).

Operational Responsibilities:

• Agrigrub: Coordinate Agrigrub loads, liaise with warehouse teams, improve processes, maintain communication, create POs, validate invoices, and assess impact of initiatives.

• Recycling: Ensure compliance across sites, organize equipment, investigate suppliers and initiatives, engage with teams, raise POs, validate invoices, and negotiate best prices for card sales.

•Food Waste: Record outgoing food to AD/AG, explore initiatives to reduce waste, raise POs, and validate invoices.

• Energy: Explore solar strategies, liaise on structural details, identify cost-saving options, improve energy reporting, and investigate monitoring software.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, or related field.

• Experience with ISO14001, ESOS, SECR compliance

• Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.
