Job description
To ensure that all designated areas are maintained to ISS hygiene and housekeeping standards, adhering to relevant hygiene standard operating procedures and schedules at all times. To ensure that Health & Safety standards are achieved and maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
- To maintain high levels of health, safety, hygiene and housekeeping to British Retail Consortium (BRC), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Path Information Unit (PIU), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Audit standards at all times.
- To clearly communicate any areas of concern to the relevant manager.
- To keep the hand wash area wiped clean and free from any loose debris.
- To ensure that the designated smoking area, yard and colleagues’ parking are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- To work in accordance with the Company cleaning schedules.
- To complete daily cleaning schedule check list and maintain and keep accurate all required cleaning records.
- To manage the Company recyclable waste streams.
- To use any equipment in a correct and safe manner.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene are maintained throughout the warehouse, this includes wall, ceiling, racking and floor deep cleaning.
- Keep warehouse areas free from dirt, debris, and any other contaminants that could affect product.
- Document all cleaning activities, including dates and areas cleaned, for audit and compliance purposes.
- Ensure waste controls, product segregation and contamination controls are in place and adhered to at all times.
- Adhere to waste segregation procedures and work streams.
- Engage with shift teams to ensure a ‘Green’ score is achieved in a Housekeeping Audits across all areas.
- Understand, develop, and maintain hygiene SOPs
- Ensure hygiene activities are carried out to optimal productivity and efficiency.
- Ensure that cleaning tools (e.g., mops, vacuums, brooms) are kept in good working condition and report any maintenance needs for cleaning equipment or machinery to the warehouse management team.
- Ensure that aisles and pathways are free from debris, creating a safe environment for staff and minimizing contamination risks.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety guidelines and report any safety hazards. Ensure that all cleaning procedures align with company hygiene standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and clean up any spills or hazards immediately to prevent accidents and contamination
- Provide extra support for deep cleaning activities during seasonal stock rotations or audits.
- Maintain compliance with our customer standards and BRC food standards.
- Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene on site. This includes following all company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices to ensure that food products are safe, compliant, and of the highest quality.

Qualifications
- High degree of self-motivation and initiative
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
- Knowledge and understanding of chemical control and stock rotation
- Previous experience within manufacturing environment
- Experience within health and safety is desirable
