Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of truly life-changing work? We are looking for passionate and committed individuals to join our team of Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVAs), supporting women, men and families who have experienced domestic abuse.

As an IDVA, you will provide specialist, trauma-informed support to people experiencing domestic abuse, helping them to navigate safety, justice, wellbeing and recovery. Your work will empower individuals to live free from harm and fear. From February 2026, Connect Housing will deliver the Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) service as part of the Kirklees Domestic Abuse Specialist Services (KDASS) partnership. We are now recruiting three additional IDVAs to join our established and supportive team.

KDASS is a partnership between three specialist service providers delivering trauma-informed, person-centred support to people affected by domestic abuse. Grounded in the Kirklees Domestic Abuse Strategy, KDASS works to empower individuals and families to build safer, healthier futures.

We are looking for someone who is:

You will be able to demonstrate experience of:

  • Working with people who have experienced domestic abuse
  • Identifying and managing high-risk situations involving survivors
  • Risk and safety planning using a whole-family approach, including identifying perpetrator patterns of behaviour
  • Liaising and working closely with partner agencies
  • Accurate and timely record-keeping using a case management system

You will also have:

  • A strong understanding of person-centred and trauma-informed approaches
  • Empathy, compassion and a non-judgemental communication style
  • A passion for supporting people to heal from trauma and live safe, empowered and fulfilling lives

Desirable - It would be an advantage if you have:

  • Additional language skills, particularly those used within local South Asian communities
  • A relevant qualification such as SafeLives IDVA and knowledge of the Safe and Together Domestic Abuse Model

If you do not currently hold these qualifications, we are looking for a commitment to learning and achieving accreditation.
