Night Support Worker

Location: Swan Lane, Huddersfield

Hours: 21 hours per week based on a 4 week rolling rota with shifts between the hours of 21:30- 08:45. This includes some weekend work.

We’re looking for a Night Support Workers to join the Swan Lane Team, based in Lockwood, Huddersfield.

This is a fixed term post until September 25, with ongoing negotiations to extend the contract.

As a Night Support Worker , you’ll be making a positive difference to the lives of Young people (16-25) who have experienced homelessness.

Swan Lane is a 10 bed supported housing project. Our Night Support Workers are responsible for the safety and security of the building and will mainly lone work overnight. The main duties include:

  • Allowing entry into the building
  • Supporting young people in person and over the phone when needed
  • Ensuring the safety of those inside the building
  • operating CCTV
  • Housing management tasks including recording notes and taking part in accurate handovers

This role includes some general upkeeping of the staff and communal areas and assisting with void management and getting vacant rooms ready to be re-let.

To do well in this role you will need to be:

  • Pro-active, resilient and driven to providing a first-class service
  • A trustworthy and values driven person who acts ethically and with integrity
  • A team player working collaboratively internally and externally whilst confident enough to work independently

Whilst no formal qualifications are required, applicants must demonstrate experience of:

  • Working with young people who have experienced homelessness
  • Working within guidelines and policy
  • Liaising and working with other agencies
  • Identifying and managing situations involving a level of risk.
  • The issues and the challenges faced by young people.

This role will require an enhanced DBS check.
