We're looking for an experienced Assessment Development Expert to join our Qualifications and Assessment Development team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you'll lead the design, development and review of assessment materials, ensuring they are valid, reliable and compliant with regulatory requirements. Working closely with colleagues, external specialists and industry stakeholders, you'll play a key role in shaping high-quality assessments and supporting the delivery of qualifications that meet the needs of learners, employers and the wider sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and review of assessment materials, including examination papers, assignment briefs, specimen assessments and supporting resources.
• Manage assessment development projects, coordinating external subject matter experts and ensuring outputs are delivered on time, within budget and in line with regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate stakeholder reviews and validation activities to ensure assessment products are fit for purpose, compliant and meet industry needs.
• Support continuous improvement by reviewing assessment performance, maintaining audit trails and contributing specialist expertise across the organisation.

About You

• Strong knowledge of assessment design principles and the development of valid and reliable assessments.
• Experience developing qualifications, assessment materials or learning resources within a vocational, awarding or regulated environment.
• Excellent writing, proofreading, project management and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and external partners.
• A relevant vocational qualification, teaching qualification, assessor and IQA qualifications, together with Level 2 English and Maths.
