Slingsby Advanced Composites is a growing and developing business. We have a new opportunity to support our facilities department.

The post holder will be an effective member of the Slingsby Advanced Composites Facilities team it will be necessary to be familiar with all facilities activities in order to support each other when needed. The role will be varied and will include the setup, maintenance and where necessary mechanical repair of equipment and site facilities. The role holder will be required to fault find and problem solve in order to safety maintain production and customer satisfaction.

Slingsby Advanced Composites is a globally respected provider of advanced composite structures and complex sub-systems that meet the toughest engineering challenges across air, land and sea for both military and civil platforms. Our products address a wide range of structural and functional requirements of civil jet aircraft, military fast jet, UAV’s, air transport, ISR and helicopters, naval surface ships and submarines through to missile components and launchers.

Responsibilities

• To undertake PPM activities and record outcomes appropriately

• To be reactive to all plant machinery repairs and breakdowns in the first instance, evaluating and reporting next steps to the facilities supervisor

• To instruct third parties if required and be site contact throughout

• Take ownership of the service requirements associated but not limited to site vac pumps and compressors, ensuring their effective running

• Support with new installation of site equipment ensuring all needs are met and completed to a high standard.

• To manage own workload and prioritise accordingly in line with site requirements.

• To support other members of the facilities team to ensure that objectives are achieved safely and to requirements.

• To undertake testing of site alarm systems i.e. fire / security

• Work in line with all H&S requirements and regulations, ensuring PPE is worn at all times • Be confident to follow process and procedures at all times.

• To be part of the out of hours call out rota

• Possible travel to others sites where needed

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE Standard

• Apprentice qualified or experienced mechanical fitter

• Fork lift licence

• Scissor Lift & Cherry Picker licence - Desirable

• Pipe fitting / Pluming qualification - Desirable

Experience

• Has worked in a mechanical / maintenance environment

• Manufacturing Background

• Manual Handling Awareness

• COSHH Awareness

• Full Driving Licence

• Physically fit, ability to work at height and confined spaces

• Knowledge of air systems and vac pumps - Desirable

• Asbestos – Desirable

Key Employment Terms

• Salary: £30,000 to £35,000

• Location: Office Based

• Hours: 37hrs/ week, Monday to Friday, half day on a Friday

• Holiday entitlement: 200 hours annual leave plus statutory bank holidays

• Sick pay entitlement after 3 months.
