Precision Engineering. World-Class Manufacturing. Build Your Career at Polar.

Are you an experienced CNC Turner looking to work on high-performance components for some of the world's most demanding industries?

At Polar, we manufacture precision-engineered components for the Aerospace, Defence and Motorsport sectors, where quality, accuracy and innovation are critical. We're looking for skilled CNC Turners to join our Machine Shop team and help deliver exceptional products that make a real difference.

Whether you're an experienced Mazak programmer or an accomplished CNC Turner looking to further develop your skills, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering business where craftsmanship and continuous improvement are valued.

About The Role

Working within our Machine Shop, you'll be responsible for setting, operating and programming CNC turning machines to manufacture high-precision components, primarily from composite materials.

You'll work from engineering drawings to produce complex parts to exacting tolerances, ensuring every component meets our high standards for quality, safety and performance.

This role is available on either a double day shift rotation (06:00–14:30 / 14:00–22:30)

What You'll Be Doing

As a CNC Turner, you'll;

  • Set, operate and programme CNC turning machines (Mazak experience is highly desirable).
  • Manufacture precision composite components to tight tolerances.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Select tooling, make offsets and carry out tool changes.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment including micrometres and verniers.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Machine Shop.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver production targets and customer commitments.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have;

  • An apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Machining or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Turner within aerospace, motorsport or another high-specification manufacturing environment.
  • Experience programming and operating Mazatrol controls (or similar CNC systems).
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience using precision inspection equipment.
  • A good understanding of machining best practice, quality standards and safe working procedures.
  • The flexibility to work a double day shift rotation or permanent late shift.

Experience machining composite materials would be an advantage, but isn't essential if you have a strong CNC machining background.

Why Join Polar

At Polar, you'll become part of a business that is investing in advanced manufacturing, technology and its people.

We offer the opportunity to:

  • Work on exciting projects within Aerospace, Defence and Motorsport.
  • Machine complex, high-value precision components.
  • Join a modern manufacturing environment with advanced CNC equipment.
  • Be part of a supportive, highly skilled team.
  • Develop your skills and progress your career within a growing engineering business.
