Role Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality throughout its entire life cycle, from design and development to manufacturing and customer use. This role involves defining quality standards, implementing control systems, analysing data, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process during the new product introduction (NPI) phase.
  • Conduct and refine Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential design flaws.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain quality control procedures for manufacturing processes.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure incoming materials and components meet required quality standards. This includes reporting non – conforming Product.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee inspections and tests of products to verify conformance with specifications from new supplier.
  • Lead problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, CAPA or 5 Whys to address quality issues thought (MRB) Material Reporting Board and pre-vent recurrence.
  • Promote a "zero defects" culture by using tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Lean Six Sigma to reduce variation and waste.
  • Prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), First article Inspection Report (FAIR) packages for new product launches, ensuring all customer requirements are met.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, such as Parts Per Million (PPM) and scrap rates.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints, documenting quality issues and ensuring closure in accordance with internal and external requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure their offerings and processes meet quality standards from the beginning, including support for quality planning and sample part requirements.

Personal Specification

Qualifications

  • Engineering or technical qualification strongly preferred, Or Time served Experience
  • Experienced in producing technical quality documents, including FMEAs, Pro-cess Flows, Control Plans, FAIRs, PPAPs, 8Ds, and Quality Alerts.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 or IATF16949 (advantageous).
  • Desirable experience in CMM programming (Faro or Romer Arm) and/or NDT techniques.
  • Six Sigma Knowledge would be Beneficial
  • Experience with Internal Auditing Skills would be Desirable.
