HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Summer Placement - Quantity Surveyor

Locations Available: Coleshill, Water Orton & Lichfield

Role Responsibilities:

• Supporting the wider team with managing the costs of the project at various stages as well as supporting the effective engagement and management of our supply chain.
• Gathering data and undertaking research on current construction costs under supervision.
  
• Recording progress on site and helping prepare and maintain records.
• Collecting information required to specify procurement requirements.
• Completing measurements of works and providing information on subcontractors performance.
  

Essential Experience:

• Having a friendly, flexible approach to your working day and a willingness to learn will be essential for this role.
• You will have a basic knowledge of MS packages including Outlook, Word and Excel. Teams will also be used regularly, but can be trained on use.
• Enthusiastic and motivated individuals currently studying a Quantity Surveying degree in their 1st or 2nd Year of their degree programme and available for 8 weeks from 20 July 2026. Prioritisation will be given to candidates studying at a Midlands-based University or who are permanent residents within the area.
