Current Opportunity: Junior Cost Controller – Finance

Location: 

The North Region comprises Sublots 7 and 8 from Curdworth to Handsacre and runs for approximately 30km. It stretches through a mainly rural landscape between Lichfield, Tamworth and down towards Coleshill.

Role description:

• Prepares the Routewide budget in collaboration with the commercial management team.

• Ensures accurate analytical coding for all recorded expenses and conducts weekly reviews of labour and plant reports.

• Performs monthly financial activities including:

  • Coordinating with the Finance Department to ensure all costs and accruals are accurately captured for month-end closing.
  • Conducting variance analysis, including Self-Delivery performance (outputs, man-hours, rates, quantities, machine efficiencies) and subcontracted works, working closely with QS to analyse key changes (quantities, rates, compensation events).
  • Supporting monthly Regional Performance Reviews (RPR) by analysing variances against forecasts and preparing accurate commentary
  • Assisting the Financial Controller with inventory management oversight for aggregates, precast elements, concrete, and related materials and performing reconciliations
  • Prepares end-of-site trend and Rolling Forecast
  • Provides additional support to the Financial Controller on ad hoc tasks as required.

• Maintains monitoring systems for all cost indicators, targets, and standards Management & Performance requested,

• Prepares Ad hoc analysis of costs, scenarios, efficiencies, if & when requested

• Alerts management on budget variations and proposes improvement & actions plans to prevent recurring variations

• Alert management for all irregularities detected.

Essential Experience:

• Relevant experience within a contracting/projects environment.

• Good knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting.

• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.

• A strong track record of promotion in the organisations that they have worked in.

• Driving license.
