Current Opportunity: Assistant Engineering Manager – Design and Engineering

Location:

Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes

Role Description:

• Work as part of the design and engineering team.

• Support the Engineering Manager to deliver some or all of the activities and responsibilities defined below: 

  • resolve technical challenges, 
  • review templates of documents required for Construction Single Assurance Packs (SAPS) and identify the engineering inputs needed for different asset types (e.g. overbridges, underbridges, culverts, cuttings and embankments etc). Such documentation may include construction and verification certificates, health and safety files, operation and maintenance manuals, as built records, construction compliance certificates, construction safety requirement review registers etc. 
  • identify construction evidence that demonstrates compliance with requirements 
  • coordinate and prepare engineering inputs in a timely manner 
  • review and check documentation prepared by others 
  • attendance at meetings 
  • support the achievement of Key Dates and Milestones 
  • liaise and coordinate with the BBV Supply chain including the Designer’s Site Support Staff. 
  • Assist with the processing of construction non-conformance reports (NCRs) on behalf of Design Management Team. 
  • attend Risk Reduction Meetings as required. 
  • Closure of risks allocated to Engineering Manager.

Essential Experience:

• Qualified Civil Engineer or similar equivalent, with an understanding of design.

• Excellent communication skills

• Experience of working with a major design consultancy and major contractor

• Highly organised with good management and coordination skills

• Leading teams, people management skills, effective delegation, mentoring & coaching and developing others

• Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations
