Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Package Manager (Civils & Architectural) within the Route Wide function. This role will be based on site in Kingsbury. The northernmost site of the West Midlands stretch of HS2 runs from Water Orton to Lichfield. The sites are mainly rural and will link HS2 to the West Coast Mainline track.


Role responsibilities:

  • As the Civil & Architectural Package Manager for the 3 pumping stations and 1 portal building, you will be responsible for the delivery of all subcontracted civil and architectural works. This includes managing the package from detailed design through procurement, construction, and handover, acting as the main liaison between the project team and the relevant supply chain partners.
  • You will work closely with the design, construction, and commercial teams to ensure the integration of civil and architectural works within the wider building delivery. Your focus will be on achieving safe, high-quality, and timely execution, while managing interfaces with other disciplines such as MEP and pumping systems works.
  • You will lead the administration of the NEC subcontract, ensuring contractual compliance, proactive management of early warnings and compensation events, and close collaboration with the commercial team on forecasting, cost control, and change management.
  • You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the package programme in alignment with the construction programme.


Experienced required:

  • Proven experience managing civil and/or architectural packages on major infrastructure or building projects.
  • Strong understanding of building structures, reinforced concrete, blockwork, cladding, architectural finishes, and general construction sequencing.
  • Experience working with or for a civils or architectural subcontractor will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of NEC3 contracts and experience in subcontract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage design coordination, procurement, and delivery of multi-discipline works packages.
  • Experience developing and maintaining construction programmes and coordinating with other trades.
  • Commercial awareness with experience in cost control, forecasting, and change management.
  • Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
  • Familiarity with project software tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, document management systems, AutoCAD).

About Balfour Beatty VINCI

Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long-established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI’s role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

• 9.3km of viaducts

• 62 overbridges

• 35 cuttings

• 56 culverts

• 62 embankments

• 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut and cover tunnels

• 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses
