We protect, restore and stand up for wild places The John Muir Trust is the UK charity dedicated to the protection of wild places. We are going through an exciting period of growth and are looking for an enthusiastic individual to help us grow the Wild Space visitor centre to take our customer experience to the next level.

Our Wild Space Visitor Centre is in the centre of Pitlochry, in the heart of Highland Perthshire was created to raise awareness of nature and the value of wildness. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team, to help us inspire and connect people with wild places.

Main responsibilities

Key duties

• Facilitate opening and closing of the Wild Space visitor centre

• Cashing up till, weekly banking and daily reporting

• Assist with administration of online shop

• Assist in fulfilment of online shop goods, insuring goods get to the post office

• Assist with events

• Able to engage with visitors to provide a fulfilling experience

• Understand the Trust’s vision and objectives and actively recruit new members to the Trust

• Collaborate with management to identify new artists and product opportunities

• Opportunity to design and implement in-store and shop window visual merchandising

Person specification

Essential skills, knowledge, and aptitude

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Positive attitude and motivated to learn

• Ability to work independently

• Competent IT skills

• Willing to work weekends and some evenings

• Confident at working alone and with an ability to act on you own initiative

Desirable

• Experience in customer focus environment

• Living in Pitlochry or surrounding area

• Experience of ecommerce platforms e.g., Shopify

Other details

Type of contract: Permanent

Hours: 2 days per week (14 hours) including weekends and some evenings

Salary: £10,019 per annum

Pension: 5% contribution to group auto-enrolment scheme

Reporting to: Head of Membership and Marketing

Location: Wild Space Visitor Centre, Pitlochry

Holidays: 14 days per year plus 2 ‘wild days’/sustainable travel days
