We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Floor Manager to enhance our retail floor team and help create unforgettable customer experiences.
This is not a back-office management role. The retail floor is the heart of our business, and as Floor Manager you will be a visible leader, coaching and inspiring colleagues, driving commercial performance, maintaining exceptional retail standards and ensuring every customer receives the outstanding service that John Bell & Croyden is known for.
Job Purpose:
As a Floor Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the retail floor, leading by example and setting the standard for service excellence. You will be responsible for creating an engaging shopping environment where colleagues are motivated, customers feel valued, and commercial opportunities are maximised. Working closely with the Retail Store Manager, you will play a key role in delivering sales targets, developing talent and maintaining the premium standards expected throughout the store.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the Retail Floor
- Taking ownership of the retail floor throughout the trading day.
- Leading from the front and maintaining a strong management presence.
- Ensuring colleagues are visible, engaged and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Actively managing customer interactions and service opportunities.
- Maintaining high standards of store presentation, stock availability and merchandising.
Delivering Exceptional Customer Experiences
- Creating a customer-first culture across the team.
- Coaching colleagues to confidently engage with customers and recommend solutions.
- Ensuring every customer receives knowledgeable, personalised service. Resolving customer concerns professionally and effectively.
- Driving long-term customer loyalty through memorable service experiences.
Driving Commercial Performance
- Supporting the achievement of sales targets and key business objectives.
- Monitoring sales performance and team productivity.
- Maximising customer conversion and average transaction value.
- Identifying trading opportunities and responding to customer demand.
- Ensuring promotional campaigns and commercial initiatives are executed effectively.
Developing People
- Leading, coaching and motivating colleagues to achieve their best.
- Delivering continuous feedback and development.
- Supporting performance management and succession planning.
- Creating a positive, accountable and inclusive team culture.
- Identifying future talent and supporting career progression.
Maintaining Operational Excellence
- Upholding all company policies and procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety, security and stock management.
- Supporting opening, closing and keyholder responsibilities.
- Ensuring operational compliance across the store.
- Deputising for the Retail Store Manager when required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- At least 2/3 years' experience in a retail leadership or management role.
- A genuine passion for customer service and retail excellence.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong coaching and people management skills.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of retail performance.
- Experience in a fast-paced customer-facing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities.
- Confidence to influence, motivate and inspire others.
- Good IT skills.
Desirable
- Experience within luxury retail.
- Experience within healthcare, beauty or wellbeing sectors.
- A personal interest in health and wellbeing.
- Experience managing larger customer-facing teams.
- HCA qualification or training.
