European Cargo is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager Safety & Compliance – CAMO to join our Safety, Security & Compliance team. This role serves as the Departmental Safety Manager for CAMO and is responsible for the effective daily operation of our Safety Management System (SMS). You will act as the central point for safety‑related activity across our Continuing Airworthiness functions and play a key role in ensuring our high safety and operational standards are consistently met.
About the Role
The Manager Safety & Compliance – CAMO will coordinate all aspects of the SMS relating to CAMO activities, both internally and externally. This includes managing safety reports, conducting investigations, supporting audits, liaising with regulatory authorities, and delivering SMS training to staff. You will work closely with internal departments, the UK CAA, and external service providers while ensuring that CAMO safety processes remain compliant, effective, and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, administration, and maintenance of an effective SMS within the CAMO department.
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis, and risk management activities.
- Monitor and support the implementation of safety actions and mitigations.
- Produce regular safety performance reports.
- Maintain safety management documentation and provide expert safety advice.
- Initiate and follow up on internal occurrence and accident investigations.
- Ensure corrective actions are identified, implemented, and validated (including root cause analysis through Centrik).
- Conduct verification audits to assess the effectiveness of corrective measures.
- Report compliance and safety matters to the Continuing Airworthiness Manager and the Director of Safety, Security & Compliance.
- Perform regular audits and inspections of CAMO operations and subcontracted activities.
- Support periodic review of the Compliance Monitoring System.
- Collaborate with the Part‑145 maintenance organisation on safety and compliance issues.
- Assess suppliers and service providers for charter and scheduled operations.
- Carry out station visits, assessments, and audits to support safe operational standards.
- Maintain and update CAMO information and documentation within the Centrik system.
- Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of company operations, manuals, regulatory requirements, and industry practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in UK/EASA commercial aviation safety and/or compliance management.
- Experience or training in UK/EASA‑OPS, Part‑CAMO, and Part‑145 requirements.
- Operational management experience and sufficient technical understanding of engineering and maintenance systems (Part M and Part‑145). Higher education background or a Part‑66 licence.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills. High computer literacy and the ability to work independently. Willingness to travel internationally at short notice when required.
- A full UK driving licence.
