We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our successful visitor-facing team. If you are passionate about delivering an outstanding experience for every visitor, then we want to hear from you!

We are hiring for both contracted (permanent) and casual (zero hours) Visitor Experience Hosts, with hours ranging from zero hours up to a 4-day a week, i.e. 23.5 hours per week role. Please note that all roles involve weekend and Bank Holiday working. For contracted staff, there will be the opportunity to pick up occasional extra shifts as overtime.

The purpose of Visitor Experience Host is to:

To work as part of a team to deliver an outstanding experience for every visitor at the Museum of the Home. You will provide every visitor with a warm welcome, using conversation and storytelling to help visitors understand what makes the subject of ‘Home’ so special.

To support the Museum’s fundraising and commercial activity through the promotion of donations, the sale of products in the Museum shop and event tickets.

To maintain a safe and secure environment for our visitors, collections, staff and volunteers.

Work as part of a team to deliver an outstanding experience for every visitor:

• Give all visitors to the Museum a warm welcome and help them get the most out of their visit by providing information and support

• Encourage visitors to engage with and learn about the museum through delivering tours and facilitating them experiencing our handling collection

• Communicate with colleagues to ensure the smooth daily operation of public spaces

• Encourage visitor feedback and support the wider improvement of visitor satisfaction

Maintain a safe and secure environment:

• Invigilate and patrol gallery spaces and collection displays, managing the flow of visitors between gallery spaces.

• Report and escalate accidents, safeguarding and security incidents as they arise

• Assist in the evacuation of all public spaces during emergencies

Support the Museum’s fundraising and commercial activities:

• Proactively ask visitors to make donations to the Museum to support the work of the Museum

• Operate the till and ticketing system; sell event tickets

• Encourage visitor engagement with our shop, events and venue hire spaces

• Support the running of commercial events and private hires

• Occasionally provide Retail cover
