24/20/16 hrs per week shifts available, working on a three-week rota, working 1 weekend in 3. Hours of work between 07:00 and 18:00hrs depending on agreed shifts
Martin House provides free specialist palliative care to babies, children and young people with complex and life-shortening conditions. Families from across West, North and East Yorkshire have access to our care 24/7, 365 days a year, including specialist doctors.
We’ve recently completed an incredible £21.9 million transformation of our hospice, creating a purpose-built space with fantastic new facilities. This vision has always been about making sure that every family—whether visiting for respite or end-of-life care—receives the very best specialist support in a place that truly feels like home. And now, we’re ready to make an even bigger difference for families across Yorkshire for many years to come.
With our new children’s wing open and our dedicated teenager and young adult facility now welcoming young people, we’re growing our team. This is an exciting time to join us, and we’re looking for enthusiastic, caring individuals to become part of our dedicated Housekeeping team—helping keep our hospice safe, clean, and comfortable for everyone who walks through our doors.
Working on a three-week rota of up to 24 hours per week, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining high standards across all areas of the hospice, both care and non-care, ensuring we meet CQC standards and, most importantly, create a space where families feel cared for every step of the way.
The role will involve working in a fast-paced, friendly environment undertaking physical activities such as
• Deep cleaning of clinical areas
• Vacuuming and mopping
• High- and low-level dusting and polishing
• Use of floor cleaners, steam cleaner and/or other cleaning equipment
• Washing of bedding
• WC cleaning
• Kitchen duties such as loading and unloading dishwashers, cleaning ovens, washing pans and setting tables
• Cleaning/ making up of bedrooms and cleaning ensuite bathrooms.
Our ideal candidate will

• Be able to work in an Hospice environment undertaking a physically demanding job
• Previous experience of providing professional cleaning services or working in a regulated care setting would be an advantage.
