Advo Health’s community of experienced healthcare professionals throughout the UK carry out independent assessments which help the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to understand how a health condition or disability is affecting a claimant’s daily life. This ensures that the system is fair and that those who are most in need of help and support receive it.

Your purpose

The Governance Officer role is to support the governance and continuous improvement activities that keep our colleagues and claimants safe in the delivery of the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS).

This will include areas such as incident reporting, safeguarding reporting, complaints, professional referrals, policy reviews, and document control processes. Additionally, you will provide support on projects relevant to the governance function.

How your role fits within our team

This role sits within the regional clinical performance team, reporting directly to the Head of Clinical.

The role will be working closely with the management team across the region, but also broader stakeholders across Advo Health and the wider Ascenti Group, so stakeholder management is key.

You may not have a clinical background or qualifications, but you will work with and learn from clinicians in your role.

Key responsibilities

  • Support with reporting in relation to complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns, ensuring all parties are operating within expected timeframes and policies and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
  • Support the team to learn from and prevent recurrence of a complaints and incidents.
  • Provide efficient administrative support to the clinical performance team, working to monitor and meet key Target Performance Levels (TPLs).
  • Support with the escalation of complaint processes, such as instances of multiple complaints, professional body enquiries, and referrals.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of relevant policies and procedures with consideration for how they link into the DWP, our customers, and the wider Ascenti Group Support Functions.
  • Maintain document control processes to ensure relevant compliance.
  • Make best use of technology and management information to effectively analyse performance, enabling the team to understand key drivers and implement continuous improvement.
  • Effective reporting on real-time performance. When required, explain any deviations from targets and outline agreed corrective action plans.
