Job description
We are seeking an Information Capability Support specialist to provide operational and strategic support to the Information Defence Line of Development (Info DLOD) lead. This is a supporting role in which you will be in managing client data governance and digital integration activities. You will have experience of working in Defence based capability delivery and will play a pivotal role in ensuring that information capabilities are effectively integrated into Service. This is a cross-functional, stakeholder-facing role requiring both technical expertise and strong communication skills.
Supporting the Info DLOD lead, you will work closely with project teams, technical architects, and operational users to capture, validate and deliver information requirements, ensuring alignment with MOD strategy, policy, and compliance frameworks. You will support the Information DLOD lead at governance boards and capability working groups, supporting the secure and effective delivery of complex projects.
Responsibilities
Information Capability Integration Support
• Support the integration of information systems and processes across projects, ensuring alignment with MOD strategy, policy, and architecture.
• Coordinate with other DLOD leads (e.g., Equipment, Personnel, Training) to ensure seamless capability delivery.
• Capture, validate, and manage information requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with MOD information assurance, cyber security, and data protection policies.
Governance
• Support the development and maintenance of information DLOD schedules, risk registers, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of information capabilities, identifying and presenting mitigating risk options for the customer.
• Support governance and assurance activities, ensuring information systems meet regulatory and contractual obligations.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
• Liaise with programme managers, technical teams, and operational users to ensure information needs are met.
• Support the Information DLOD lead in project and programme boards, working groups, and external forums.
• Support the Information DLOD lead in change initiatives and continuous improvement for information systems and processes.
Teamwork & Professional Development
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team under the guidance of the Head of Cyber Security.
• Share knowledge and mentor colleagues where required.
• Stay up to date with evolving information capabilities and MOD policy developments.
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. Professional certification (or working towards) in information/cyber security and/or engineering.
Competencies
• Experience managing structured and unstructured data, information flows, and interoperability challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to diverse audiences.
Experience
Essential
• Time served in the military (Royal Signals or RAF TG4/Eng CE) or Civil Service in the delivery of information capabilities, cyber security, or information management.
• Strong understanding of MOD frameworks, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail and a pragmatic approach.
• Eligible for, or holding, UK Security Clearance (minimum SC).
Desirable
• Experience in Defence, aerospace, or critical information projects.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices, service delivery and agile methodologies.
