Business Development Manager

Job description

SQEP Ltd is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development (BD) Manager to lead strategic growth initiatives within the defence and security sector. The BD Manager will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and securing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and driving cross-functional collaboration to support SQEP’s mission-readiness and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities

• Identify BD opportunities aligned with emerging industry trends.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including MOD, Defence Digital, and allied defence organisations. • Work with the BD team to coordinate cross-functional teams (technical, commercial, finance, delivery) to ensure cohesive campaign and business winning strategies.

• Support framework exploitation and pipeline development across PDP-S; EDP and other strategic frameworks.

• Monitor internal capabilities and align them with external market demands.

• Contribute to strategic growth planning and support Head of Business Development in developing new business strands.

• Represent SQEP in client meetings and industry events.

Experience

• Proven track record in business development within the defence and security sector.

• Minimum 5 years’ Business Development experience in the defence and security sector or equivalent in-depth knowledge of MOD and defence procurement.

• Strong stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills.

• Ability to participate in cross-functional teams and contribute to complex bids.

• Familiarity with MOD and defence procurement frameworks

• Proven track record of opportunity management.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.

• Understanding of strategic planning, cost modelling, and contract implementation.

• Knowledge of emerging industry trends.

Security Requirements:


Some projects delivered under this role involve access to information protected by specific UK Government security caveats, including UK Eyes Only material. Access to such information is determined solely by the relevant security authorities and contractual obligations. As a result, eligibility for certain tasks may be restricted to individuals who meet the security vetting requirements applicable to those projects.
