About the Role
We are looking for a client-focused Paralegal to join our specialist Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) team within our Private Client Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping clients navigate important personal decisions and delivering a high-quality, empathetic legal service.
In this role, you will play a key part in managing your own caseload, liaising with clients, and preparing essential documents that support their estate planning needs.
What You’ll Do
As a Paralegal in our Wills & LPA team, you will:
- Manage a specialised caseload with accuracy and professionalism.
- Deliver consistently high standards of client care and a first-class customer experience.
- Work commercially, ensuring your case management reflects efficiency and positive outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the Private Client team.
- Capture and record all time contemporaneously.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- In your day-to-day work as a Will Writer and LPA Paralegal, you will:
- Conduct client meetings (by appointment) to take instructions for straightforward Wills.
- Listen carefully to clients’ wishes and ensure they are fully and accurately documented.
- Prepare, explain, and draft clear and legally sound Will documents based on client instructions.
- Issue draft documents for client review promptly – ideally same day or within 24 hours.
- Identify when cases involve trusts, Inheritance Tax (IHT), or other complex elements and refer them to senior members of the Private Client team.
- Work collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure clients receive high-quality, specialist advice when required.
- Provide guidance and advice to clients on Lasting Powers of Attorney.
- Assist clients with the preparation, signing, and registration of LPAs, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
- Manage billing on matters and ensure files are closed in line with firm procedures.
