About the Role

As a Court of Protection Paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting our Court of Protection team in delivering high-quality legal services to vulnerable clients who lack capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs.

Working closely with solicitors and professional deputies, you will assist in managing a varied caseload, ensuring clients receive compassionate, efficient and professional support while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and client care.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day management of Court of Protection deputyship files.
  • Preparing Court of Protection applications, correspondence and supporting documentation.
  • Liaising with clients, family members, care providers, local authorities, financial institutions and other professionals.
  • Assisting with the administration of clients' financial affairs, including budgeting, payment of invoices, banking and maintenance of financial records.
  • Supporting the preparation of Office of the Public Guardian reports and ensuring compliance with deputyship obligations.
  • Maintaining accurate file records and case management systems.
  • Delivering exceptional client care with professionalism, empathy and sensitivity.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for clients and the wider team.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Case Handler within Court of Protection, Private Client or a similar legal environment is desirable.
  • A Law Degree, CILEx qualification or equivalent legal experience would be advantageous.
  • Required Skills
  • An understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the role of the Court of Protection is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A compassionate and client-focused approach when working with vulnerable individuals and their families.
  • Strong administrative and financial management skills with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with clients, colleagues and external organisations.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive, multidisciplinary team whilst managing your own workload effectively.
