About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and confident Child Care Solicitor to join our specialist Childcare department. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with 3-5+ years’ post-qualified experience who is committed to delivering exceptional client care and achieving strong outcomes for clients.
Please note: Applicants must be a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive legal advice across a range of specialised matters, managing a varied caseload while working collaboratively within a supportive and highly respected team.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be able to:
- Manage a diverse and busy caseload.
- Deliver high standards of client care and a first-class customer experience.
- Work commercially, reflected in your case management and outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Achieve and deliver key outcomes for both clients and the firm.
Manage a range of Child Care matters, including:
- Care Proceedings
- Adoption
- Child Arrangement Orders
- Parental Responsibility issues
- Unlawful removal and abduction
- Special Guardianship matters
- Monitor court timetables to ensure compliance by yourself and involved parties, chasing updates where necessary.
- Manage files in accordance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) requirements.
- Monitor file costs to ensure LAA certificate limits cover ongoing work and disbursements, submitting extension requests where needed.
- Submit timely applications for LAA funding and ensure prompt allocation of payments.
- Undertake advocacy on behalf of team members where appropriate.
- Brief and appoint Counsel as required.
- Work towards further panel accreditations where relevant.
- Act as agent for other solicitors, including local authorities.
- Bill privately funded work regularly and immediately upon conclusion.
- Bill legally aided matters promptly and within 3 months of completion.
- Conduct file reviews at least every 3 months.
About you:
- You are a proactive, client focused lawyer with 3-5+ years post qualified experience in Child Care Law.
- You are a current Children Panel member with a strong understanding of the legal aid framework.
- You have excellent advocacy, communication and case management skills.
- You are able to work collaboratively in a team while managing your own caseload efficiently.
- You are committed to delivering high-quality legal advice with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for clients.
