Job description
Our cheesemakers are skilled individuals who hold responsibility for producing a variety of Isle of Man Creamery award winning cheeses using local, grass-fed milk from our co-operative dairy farms.
Cheesemaking requires following recipes in line with the production plan for that day, but also using initiative and expertise to understand how to get the best flavour, consistency and quality into our products.
This is a unique opportunity to learn the skill of cheesemaking and be supported through training and development.
We operate shifts in this role between Monday and Friday which rotate on a weekly basis. You will be required to work one night shift in every 3 or 4 weeks, between 1am and 8am. All other shifts commence at either 7am or 8am. You will be fully trained in the role by another cheesemaker and will also receive training in food hygiene and chemical handling.
Responsibilities
- Following recipes in line with the production schedule for that day
- Using initiative to adjust the recipe to achieve the desired quality, flavour and consistency.
- Ensuring that all equipment and machinery is operated and maintained to a high level of hygienic cleanliness and efficiency
- Taking a hands-on approach to all production activities
- Completing all paperwork and records accurately
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment adhering to food safety and health and safety procedures at all times
Qualifications
None required. Food safety and hygiene training will be issued upon commencement of the role.

- The ability to work in a physically demanding environment, lifting and moving products up to 25kg on occasion - Essential
- The ability to work in warm temperatures (up to 36 degrees in the summer) within a factory environment - Essential
