About the role:

LUC’s finance team is well established with the team being based across our London, Bristol, Sheffield and Glasgow offices, supporting the whole of LUC. We work collaboratively and share knowledge across the team, while continuing to improve and develop our processes.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the AP/AR Receivable Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of sales and purchase ledgers. This role would suit someone from a finance background, focused particularly on sales and purchase ledger, whilst being able to work with high volumes and to strict deadlines.

The role includes the following day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operation and maintenance of Sales and Purchase Ledgers
  • Ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and following company processes.
  • Dealing with large volumes of invoices and working to strict deadlines.
  • Raising Sales invoices.
  • The input of purchase invoices and chasing approvals.
  • Posting from Project Management System to Sage 200 (Imminent plans to migrate to Xero)
  • Supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Maintaining accurate, tidy ledgers.
  • Providing other finance support as required.

The role includes the opportunity to share and participate actively in the management and ownership of the business through the Employee Ownership Trust, which places full ownership of the company with the employees.

The role is based in LUCs Sheffield office.

We work in a hybrid model with people being in the office a minimum of two days per week. There will also be travel required to visit sites, client offices and other office locations.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover), based on 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday). LUC has a strong track record in flexible working and we are happy to discuss a range of flexible working options for this role.

Salary: £26,250 FTE, Pro rata (depending on experience)

Experience and qualifications

The successful candidate will communicate information clearly (written and verbally), have the capability to manage their workload to meet deadlines, and produce accurate work with attention to detail.

We are looking for someone keen to utilise their skills, knowledge and experience to deliver better places for nature, people and communities.

Essential

  • Previous work experience in a similar role.
  • Confident using Sage, Xero and excel; on the job training will be given on our Project Management System.
  • Handling large volumes.

Desirable

  • Accountancy qualification such as AAT.
  • Experience with Accounts payable automation.
