Formed over 40 years ago, dps has grown to become a market leader in the sourcing, production and distribution of fresh produce to some of the UK's leading retailers. We pride ourselves on the way we do business and understand that we are successful because of our people.
As such we are looking for a superstar Quality Assurance to join our Technical Team based in Spain, working 5 days per week.
Key Accountabilities:
1. General
- Assist the Group Technical Director in matters appertaining to product safety, quality and legality.
- Create an on-going dialogue with the suppliers you are visiting to ensure that you are aware of the current supply and potential issues and communicate these as appropriate to the Iberian peninsula Lead QA and Technical Manager
- Assist in ensuring all of the dps quality and commercial targets are met for product procured from the assigned suppliers.
2. Quality
- Carry out QA inspections at suppliers pack houses to ensure that product is being packed to the dps requirements.
- Carry out label checks as required. Confirm labels sent by suppliers for approval.
- Monitor shelf life and residency times to make sure that the dps team are informed of any issues and concerns.
- Ensure that the correct varieties are being used at all times.
- Ensure that the customers required quality standards are understood by the suppliers and effectively maintained and communicated at all times.
- Effectively liaise and communicate on day to day quality issues with assigned suppliers.
- Provide recommendations to ensure that the correct varieties are being used at all times. This can be depot specific if required
- Take active involvement in decision making
3. Technical / Commercial
- Monitor sites standards during your normal activities and feedback any concerns to the dps technical team
- Assist in the preparation of samples and conduct trials as required.
- Provide information required for new lines.
- Assist with supplier + customer visits when needed.
- Effectively communicate and update the DPS technical on daily quality issues.

- Work on environmental and sustainability projects and assist both the Lead QA and Technical Manager in Iberia and the Sustainability Developing Manager in these matters.
4. People
- Ability to work alone and arrange own agenda as well as working as a team member (Spain + UK) and also reporting to the team experts (salads and stonefruit).
- Manage mutually beneficial relationships with growers in order to drive the business forward for the benefit of all interested parties.
5. Product and Reporting
- Investigate the reasons for all rejections and report outcome and CAP to the technical team as required in due time.
- Provide end of season reviews and feedback.
