The Role

We are looking for a 3 – 5 years PQE Solicitor to join the Employment Department in Southampton. We are seeking a talented Solicitor to support the department on a full-time or part time basis.
The Employment Department at Paris Smith has an excellent reputation and is ranked in tier 1 in Hampshire by the legal 500, as well as being ranked highly by Chambers. The role offers a person a collegiate and friendly working environment and a mix of work for employers and employees, as well as a good balance between contentious and non-contentious work. We have a range and good volume of high quality work.
There is an opportunity to develop your own legal expertise and client relationships. The right candidate will be integral to providing highly valued training as part of the department's involvement with the Firm's Training Arm.
The Department is embracing AI technology and has an internal training programme to develop junior staff. This sits across the Firm’s technology and innovation team.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Support the existing team with Employment work
• Provide support with advising clients
• Provide a high-quality legal service to our clients
• Accept work from our existing and valued clients and receiving delegated work from Partners in the team
• Manage own caseload and work well with other members of the department
• Keep up to date with changes in the law and technical or management training
• Work from our Winchester and Bournemouth offices from time to time as required.
The Candidate
The successful applicant would ideally possess the following attributes;
• 3 – 5 years PQE
• Knowledge of relevant legal practices and procedures
• Knowledge of firm, client and department procedures
• High level of client care
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work well in a team
