We are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Lead to support the successful delivery of major projects within the Platforms Delivery team. The role requires proven project management experience on projects exceeding £5m, combined with strong commercial and contractual understanding. Candidates should have 10+ years’ experience in project delivery within the offshore oil and gas, energy, or adjacent industries, with a deep understanding of project management principles and methodologies. The successful applicant will be adept at leading multi‑disciplinary teams, as well as managing suppliers and contractors to ensure efficient, high‑quality project execution from initiation through to completion.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the delivery of projects as assigned by Business Unit Lead (BUL), including project lead oversight of a multi-disciplinary Platforms Delivery team from sales handover to final closeout.

• Responsibility for assigned project data, scheduling, cost control, documentation management, and administration, working in conjunction with the project controls team.

• Accountability for assigned project financial performance, including forecasting, cash flow, and invoice alignment with expenditure.

• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, including commercial, contractual, design, and schedule related changes, escalating issues to senior management where necessary.

• Interpret client change requests and draft, review, update and submit corresponding Variation Order Requests (VOR), seeking commercial compensation in both cost and time extension.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and third parties to support delivery success and long-term partnerships.

• Support technical sales activities by leading and contributing to technical bids and quotations, covering technical, operational, and commercial considerations

. • Delegate responsibilities effectively to support project and team objectives.

• Ensure clear communication of project expectations to all stakeholders and maintain adequate support across all active projects.

• Provide clear and timely reporting to senior management, clearly communicate data and information to the executive management team as required.

• Deputise for the BUL Platforms. Support with team development, recruitment, succession planning, and retention.

• Line manage and develop assigned Project Engineers mentor, providing operational leadership and management oversight on assigned projects.

• Participate in design reviews, technical audits, and peer reviews, ensuring technical robustness and quality compliance.

• Ensure all project activities comply with AEL policies and ISO 9001/14001 standards.

• Fulfil Duty Engineer responsibilities and provide holiday cover for management as needed.

Skills & Experience Required:

• 10+ years working as part of project delivery teams within offshore oil & gas / energy or adjacent industry.

• Proven experience in project management on projects >£5M contract value.

• Strong commercial and contractual understanding.

• Strong understanding of project management principles methodologies.

• Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure smooth project delivery.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in managing technical coordination.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

• Knowledge of industry standards.

• Preferrable; Batchelors degree in relevant field. or recognised Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE
