Test Support Supervisor

The BBA is looking to hire a Test Support Supervisor to join our Test team.

Purpose of Job:

  • To provide support to the Test Technicians and Test Leaders to facilitate them carrying out their work.
  • To manage test samples ensuring that the BBA hold the minimum quantity of samples compatible with ready availability and ease of retrieval.
  • To manage the disposal of waste including chemicals and samples and to maintain the cleanliness of the yard areas of Test Services.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Controlling the receipt, handling, storage, distribution and disposal of goods and samples to the minimum level compatible with ready availability and ease of retrieval as required.
  • Maintain records of sample movements to meet the needs of our management system.
  • Prepare samples for test, as required by Test staff.
  • Organise the shipping and transport of samples and test equipment between suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Assist Test Technicians in carrying out their work, especially when there are high levels of manual handling.
  • Provide a “lift and shift” service to Test Services, and other parts of the BBA, as required.
  • Provide support to the Head of Test, including contributions to development projects as required.
  • Supervise reporting staff ensuring that safe and efficient working practices are adhered to, and where required, that appropriate developmental assistance and training is identified.
  • Manage efficient removal of all waste generated at the BBA including recycled paper, samples, chemical and electronic.

Working Relationships and Communications:

Internal

  • Frequent contact, liaison and reporting to the Operations Manager.
  • Regular contact with the Operations Director and other members of the Test management team including attendance at the Test Production meetings.
  • Liaise with other parts of the BBA as required.

External

  • Regular contact with suppliers arranging the inflow of test samples.
  • Multiple contacts each day with delivery drivers and couriers.
  • Approximately weekly contact with clients and external laboratories for the delivery and collection of samples before and after test.
  • BRE Facilities.

Working Environment and Job Context:

Approximately:

  • 60% in the yard/off-loading area and storage buildings adjacent to the yard.
  • 20% office based administrative work.
  • 20% transportation.

General Responsibilities:

  • Promote and adhere to all BBA policies and actively promote the BBA wherever possible
  • Responsible for your own Health and Safety and that of your colleagues and others on the BBA premises in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and the BBA Health & Safety Handbook.
