The BBA is looking to hire an Assistant Commercial Manager to join our Commercial team on a fixed-term contract.

Purpose of Job:

We’re growing demand for trusted product testing and certification. You’ll help convert that demand into sustainable revenue through the production of quotations as part of the sales acquisition cycle; forming a critical link between the Sales Team and the Technical Scoping Team, pulling together existing pricing models into a format that supports in building a healthy sales pipeline and delivering value to our clients. You will report into the Senior Commercial Manager and will be focussed on the day-to-day quotation activity, while supporting to prepare the business in digitising the process.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Quotation support: gather inputs from sales/technical, complete compliance checklists, format proposals, track deadlines.
  • Pricing assistance: build quote packs and simple models, apply catalogue pricing methodology based on existing service offerings, sanity-check with the Senior Commercial Manager and Technical Services teams.
  • Coordinate quotation activity between the Scoping Team under the ‘Pathfinder’ Process, through regularly team calls to track progress, and provide feedback to the Sales Team.
  • Contract admin: draft quotation documents from templates, log and record progress of each quotation, chase approvals, and file signed docs correctly. • Change control: raise variations and keep the commercial tracker current.
  • Pipeline hygiene: update CRM stages/dates, prepare weekly reports, and flag risks or slippage early.
  • Quotation handover: align quotation milestones with sales and sales support teams
  • Governance & records: maintain necessary registers, exceptions logs, and version control for auditability, and create monthly overview reports on status of quotations.
  • Market & competitor notes: capture win/loss reasons, rate moves, and lead times to inform pricing.
  • Support the Senior Commercial Manager on any digitisation initiatives as part of the wider Commercial Transformation initiative.

What success looks like:

  • Proposals on time, on template, and compliant
  • Quoted vs. delivered margin within target (minimal erosion)
  • Accurate pipeline and clean documentation
  • Faster approvals and fewer contract exceptions
  • Accurate output of quotations

General Responsibilities:

  • Promote and adhere to all BBA policies and actively promote the BBA wherever possible.
  • Responsible for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues and others on the BBA premises in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and the BBA Health & Safety Handbook.
