Bethell Construction is a leading civil engineering and utility services group with over 160 years of experience delivering infrastructure projects throughout the North West. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, we are looking to recruit experienced Site Agents to support the successful delivery of highways, water, drainage and civil engineering projects across Greater Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction professional to take a leading role in project delivery, managing site operations, maintaining high safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently, sustainably and to client expectations.

The Role

As a Site Agent, you will assist in the management and delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, subcontractors, operatives and clients, taking responsibility for site activities, workforce coordination, quality assurance and compliance with company procedures. The successful candidate will be a strong leader who can motivate teams, maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders and ensure efficient use of resources while driving project performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations and coordinate activities to achieve programme objectives.
• Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Prepare and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and health & safety briefings.
• Carry out regular site inspections and safety audits.
• Manage subcontractors and directly employed operatives to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring a professional company image is promoted at all times.
• Monitor site progress and provide accurate project records, reports, photographs and documentation.
• Ensure quality inspections are completed and all works comply with specifications and contract requirements.
• Coordinate material deliveries, plant requirements and site logistics.
• Support environmental initiatives and ensure sustainable working practices are implemented.
• Assist in the development and mentoring of apprentices and graduate staff.
• Maintain accurate site records, timesheets, plant records and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Site Agent with a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You will have excellent leadership skills, strong technical knowledge and a proactive approach to project delivery.

You will be committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and customer service while fostering a positive and productive site culture.

Essential Requirements

• CSCS Card.
• SMSTS (5-Day Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.
• SEATS (Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a site supervisory or site management role.
• Experience within: Highways Groundworks, Drainage, Excavation, Concrete works
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Good understanding of CDM Regulations.
• Knowledge of NEC forms of contract.

Desirable Requirements

• HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Experience working within the water industry.
• Experience delivering projects within framework environments.
