Job Title: Senior Communications Officer
Salary: £26,000
Contract: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Hybrid working, including home working , with an ability to travel to Carers First service areas

About this role
As a Senior Communications Officer your responsibilities would include: -
- Raise the profile of Carers First, building brand awareness and engagement to reach new carers and highlight the issues affecting them.
- Lead the creation, development, and project management of content and campaigns across multiple channels, including PR digital, publications, and events.
- Oversee and grow our digital and social media presence, ensuring carers can access timely, relevant, and accessible information.
- Proactively identify and tell compelling stories that inspire, inform, and influence.
- Support the Communications Manager and deputise when required, contributing to the development of processes, practices, and plans that build a high-performing communications function.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need -
Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in communications, PR, or marketing role, ideally in the charity or public sector.
- Proven ability to lead communications projects from concept to delivery.
- Strong media relations skills and experience securing coverage.
- Skilled in writing and editing content for multiple audiences and channels.
- Experience using analytics to measure and improve communications performance
Skills and knowledge
- Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms, content management systems, and email marketing tools.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, SEO, and brand management.
- Confident in using Microsoft Office and CRM systems; experience with design software (e.g. Adobe Creative) is an advantage..
